How to write prompts as a sensory scientist?
The other day somebody asked me “Maybe you can help us write a good prompt.”
But everybody can write a perfect prompt (or setup perfect context) in 2026.
It’s bloody easy: Not to write it yourself.
Forget about all the tips you learned in the last two years, set a role, think step-by-step, etc. They are all great tips, but unfortunately we don’t remember applying them every single time.
There is simply an easier way to do it.
- Chat with your AI with needs first: just your own talking style!
- Ask your AI to EVALUATE your idea, and ask you questions if anything’s unclear.
- Then, ASK YOUR AI to write the prompt (or setup the context).
Or even, you can just ask your AI, “What’s the best way to set you up for this task?”
The more complex your job is, the more time you should spend talking to your AI on the conditions before it actually gives an answer.
Seriously, try it once. You’ll wonder why you ever stressed about prompt engineering.
Last week I asked Claude to help me design a consumer survey. I just… talked to it. Then asked it to turn my messy thinking into a proper prompt so I can feed it again in another session. The result was better than anything I’d write from scratch.
